Joseph S. Sims - Guided the Foundation's formation in its first two years of operation, serving as Chairman during what was an unusually active start for any foundation. Under Mr. Sims' leadership, the Foundation began making significant grants immediately. Mr. Sims, retired First Tennessee Bank executive, was a long-term member of the Board of Saint Francis Hospital.

James A. Sweeney - National Bank of Commerce executive and a long-term Saint Francis Hospital board member. Mr. Sweeney was a founding member and Treasurer of The Assisi Foundation. (Deceased)

William A. Loewenberg - Former Saint Francis Hospital board member, founding member of the Assisi Board, and long-term Memphis business leader and philanthropist. (Deceased)

A. F. "Bud" Dudley - Retired chairman of the Liberty Bowl who brought the Liberty Bowl to Memphis; he was a civic leader and long-term board member of Saint Francis Hospital and The Assisi Foundation.

John D. Pera, Ph.D. –Retired chemist from Buckman Laboratories and a longterm member of the Board of Directors of Saint Francis Hospital and The Assisi Foundation of Memphis; he gave insight to healthcare and medical issues.
