The Assisi Foundation of Memphis, Inc. has announced 17 grants totaling in excess of $3.3 million for the Second Quarter 2008

MEMPHIS (April 25, 2008) --- The Assisi Foundation of Memphis, Inc. announced today  grant awards for second quarter 2008 in the amount of $3,354,000. The Foundation awards grants to not-for-profit organizations serving people located primarily in Memphis, Tennessee, and in the Mid South region surrounding Memphis. The awards are in the areas of health care, education, literacy initiatives, community enhancement, and civic and cultural programs.

 

The Assisi Board reviewed more than thirty final applications. Health care related programs garnered the majority of the funds awarded in Assisi’s second quarter funding decisions.

 

  • Baptist Hospital Foundation.  Baptist Trinity Hospice House. $500,000
  • Methodist Hospital Foundation.  Methodist Hospice.   $500,000
  • American Cancer Society.  The Memphis Hope Lodge. $500,000
  • Medical Education and Research Institute.  Capital Campaign $500,000 

Other approved grants included:

 

  • Memphis Botanic Garden. Children’s Garden $100,000
  • Friends of the Levitt Pavilion. Capital Campaign $100,000
  • Promise Academy. $250,000 

The following were also approved for continued funding commitments based on the success of the organizations to meet prior challenges or specific grant conditions:

 

  • Memphis Opportunity Scholarship Trust (MOST). $200,000
  • Memphis Creative Aging. Accessible Arts Programs $30,000
  • New Ballet Ensemble.  Capital Campaign. $100,000
  • Mid South Peace and Justice. Neighborhood Community Gardens.  $12,000
  • United Housing. Homebuyer Education.  $20,000
  • Christian Brothers University. Science Center Capital Campaign $250,000
  • Friends for Life. $125,000
