Le Bonheur Children's Hospital
Le Bonheur Children's Hospital opened in June, 1952 and has grown to become recognized by multiple external organizations, such as U.S. News & World Report, as one of the nation’s best. We treat and interact with more than 250,000 children each year through inpatient and outpatient visits, community outreach services and research discoveries.
Le Bonheur's dedication to research and education is paving the way for a better future in children’s health care in our community, region and beyond. We are the only American College of Surgeons Level One Trauma Center in the state and the region. Le Bonheur and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital partner in a collaborative pediatric brain tumor program, the largest in the nation. Le Bonheur is also home to a National Association of Epilepsy Centers’ Level IV Accredited Epilepsy Program, one of only a few in the United States. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the region’s only designated Level IV unit, providing the highest level of care to critically ill newborns. Le Bonheur is one of only a handful of children’s hospitals with advanced technology such as intra-operative MRI, and MEG (magnetoencephalography), and TCS (trans-cranial stimulation) based brain mapping for diagnosing and treating children. Each year patients and families from across the U.S. and many foreign countries seek Le Bonheur’s care.
Le Bonheur’s mission states: In partnership with our physicians, to be the leader in children’s health care in the Mid-South through high quality patient care, research and advocacy. Our vision is to be nationally recognized for the quality and depth of our services and our excellence in children’s healthcare.
